Hood release help

I did a search and folks mentioned puttting the hand inside the grill and releasing it that way. Could someone be more specific about where the cable and release are. I've poked around a bunch but can't find it. I don't want to pull on the wrong place. I need to get in ther ASAP (washer fluid is empty and it's snowing). The mechanic I took it to last destroyed my cable and T handle by crushing the outer housing . Thanks for the help!

when looking at the front of the truck, you should be able to reach in between the top 2 slats of the grill, and reach up and you'll feel the cable. Pull it down sharply. Then put either hood pins or quick release latches on it.

At the worst case, you can always remove the grill from the outside and this will give you much more room to work. The latch is just to the left of center. Replacing the cable and T-handle is quick and easy when you get a new one.

I went out this morning and could feel the toggle that you move once the hood is unlatched but I couldn't feel the cable. I was fishing on the right side though. I'll play with the left side and if all else fails I'll pull the grill. There is no doubt that hood pins are next. Thanks,

Two things:
Sean, is ANY of the cable still visible in the cab? I had the same issue and by passed the T handle and pulled the cable itself. Was still stuck so I got some locking pliers and it freed up. After that I can pull on the extra loop of cable and bypass the T.

Hood pins. Does anyone have photos of pins being used on a Defender? I'm thinking of going this route and want to see the look first since I know it gets tight to mount them well.

I'll have to look and see if I have any pics. But I have the camel trophy style pins. Picked them up at a local racing shop.

Here are a couple of (crappy) photos of the military latches that I put on my truck. Got 'em from RN.

I take back what I said, I found the PM from Yousef and he couldn't find his and only Anthony's were posted, like you see above.

I did see some some place of a Defender with them on and I'lll keep kicking my head until something falls out.
