High altitude operation with a 3.8 EFI = CRAP?

My girlfriend took my 92 Range Rover Classic out to Colorado for the winter and it lives around 9000-13,000 feet. The car was operating perfectly when it left Vermont and now has ZERO, NADA, BOOBOO, NOTHING for power. Is this typical of high altitude operation or does the car need to be re-tuned specifically for altitude? I'm assuming a D90 with a 3.9 is the same as a RRC.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks and happy new year.

About the only thing you can do is bump up the initial timing...take it from 6BTDC to 10 or 12BTDC Typically you lose 4-5% of an engines power for every 1000 feet of elevation...having lived at altitude my whole life, I am always amazed how much more power my truck has at sea level. I guess it's a matter of perspective.

A turbo or supercharger will solve your problem nicely.. of course, it's not cheap!
