Dude, that Santana straight-six 3.5 diesel is supposed to be the shiznit. I've lusted for one ever since I heard about them way back when. I hear they are uber-rare, so you might want to source another before you ship the truck over.

LT-95 = bulletproof. Get the higher-ratio high-range gearset over there before you ship it over too. Oh wait, it might have them already. You might want to confirm.

Transmission is very strong. Engine pulls like a tractor by all accounts.
it's a year older than mine!
I see it's running on Series 1 Discovery steel wheels - not the greatest offset ever designed.

I have the same truck, literally, Trident Green, had the stripes and disco steelies but I ditched em, except mine has a 4.0 toyota diesel.

The gearset in mine seems to be ideal for a naturaly aspirated diesel. I don't think you will need to change a thing. The lt95 is prone to gear growl in the lower gears which isn't realy an issue in a diesel truck.

Mine was a 2.3 ltr petrol when I got it with an LT77 5 speed box and a 1.66 ratio transfer box since uprated to 200 tdi and 1.44 transfer box. I spent one summer struggling with a knackered GKN overdrive which finally gave up the ghost outside Madrid.
The Range Rover 4 speed overdrive is rare and introduces more slack into the drive train - get higher ratio gears if it needs it.

No overdrive. At highway speeds the engine is in its power band and has quite a bit to go.

Whatever you do decide to buy for her have it bolted on in the uk. Homeland security has recently cracked down on "loose items". I had gotten away with the back full of parts on a couple of imports but last Friday was forced to remove some 110 second row rollup doors and other tasty morsels from a 110 on its way over.
