Definitely seems to be ground but can't see anything obviously loose. Randy my savior is rigging up a direct ground for me and sending to the island so I can test that. Keeping fingers crossed!! Thanks so much.

Possible but I had shop replace that a few months ago? The symptoms when that was bad were similar.

------ Follow up post added July 13th, 2015 01:38 PM ------

But when that was the issue it wouldn't do any kind of crank. This cranks, starts runs for a second or two then dies.

Sounds like a classic fuel pressure problem. Did you test the relay?

Could it be moisture related?

I agree. The best people ever are on this forum and in this community. Humbled by the humanity of others.

What is the status? Done with work for the day. Happy to swing by to look and would bring the 90 if you want to swap relays.

Also, we have a 4 car garage if you need an indoor place to store it while waiting for parts.

Just got a note from will saying he's on the way to post office to pick up my packet. I'd imagine he'd try a few things with the stuff I sent over first?

I'll let him chime in when he can. He's trying to make it to post office before it closes in 10 minutes

Ha...0 days, worked the overnight on the day of delivery, and was able to visit the lady and little one as they slept. Come October, I will have free time. The summer season works us all on the islands.

Update! I got Randy's amazing and generous ground wire and care package "kit". The car was towed to MV auto Monday who despite being booked out 3 weeks took it. I went to install the ground an hour ago at their shop. They had time this morning to do diagnosis. They said power is getting to fuel pump but not getting a signal back from it. They are pretty sure it is the fuel pump relay.

They ordered a rely rush should be here tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed that works. If not we try the ground fix Randy sent.

Thank you again everyone for your concern and generosity. My wife, daughter and I are so touched by how helpful everyone has been.

I will keep everyone posted on progress tomorrow!

Is the relay on these trucks unique, or could they swap in a relay from another component to troubleshoot?

Rockauto lists two manufacturers of relays. So generics are definitely out there

More Information for AIRTEX / WELLS 1R2373

More Information for STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS RY938

I know other models of Rovers use the same generis relay for multiple applications. Sometimes you can pull a less important one and swap it for a more vital one. Built in spares basically.

Fuel pump relay is unique to the 13CU ->14CUX. Looks like the other silver ones but has a different diode (or something like that). IIRC there's a Mercedes relay that NAPA stocks that a replacement. I'll check through my notes.

Found it.... Napa relay AR-274

It's one of those parts you will learn to buy a spare of and keep in the console. If JAH can spare the time, run over there and swap his relay in to prove that's the issue, but I'll bet it is.

Good to hear it doesn't appear to be ruining your vacation.

1. There is a NAPA on island in regard to that Mercedes relay that works.

2. If you clear it with MV Auto, I can meet you there to try out my relay.
