help! need a good shop to go to near boulder

hi guys,

im back from Vancouver to Colorado for a bit. My truck needs a little love, and I just dont have time to do it before it gets cold and it needs doing. Can anyone point me towards something in Boulder / Lafayette / Louisville / Longmont, etc?

I saw the shop in Englewood but thats a bit far for me. I need to change out my front pinion bearing, remove a destroyed front drive shaft (the bits that are left that is) and replace the diode pack in the dash ( i think ) so that my hazards and horn will work again and let me pass inspection. One man shop's / etc are fine, as long as you know what you are doing and as good as Pendy!

thanks!!

Good to have you back in the state

What inspection do you need a horn and hazzards to pass here in Colorado? I have never heard of having to pass any kind of inspection other than an emissions inspection?

Land Rover Flatirons is not too far from you and they are one of the good dealers ( They were the best when they had Sean G and Charlie H)

Not sure how busy Keith @ Rovertracks is but it might be worth a ring to see if is doing any little jobs like the driveshaft and pinion seal.

Jeff Corwin is further away from you but worth the drive, he is a nice guy, knows his rovers, has fair prices and is a member of solihull.

In Golden there is Dennis at Linden Engineering seems like a nice guy, I can not vouch for his work as I have not had anything done by him yet but he did have oil and fuel filters for my 2.5 diesel and seems to work on a bunch of diesels. I know several members have used him so maybe someone else can comment on his work and prices?

However the following is a tall order....

There's a place near the Boulder High school, around Arapahoe and 18th or so. When I go buy always has a few Rovers sitting around. You may try there, but I don't know anyone who has used this shop. If it were me, I'd drive the extra distance to get to a known quantity. Go see JC in Englewood. Mark

Hi Dave!

thanks for the info. Maybe you are right and i dont need a horn or hazzards to pass. I thought there was a safety inspection and those 2 items would fail me.

if thats the case, I really just need the pinion bearing fixed and I can add my own drive shaft quick enough its not an issue. I just dont have time to yank the front end apart to get the diff out and do the seal. I probably need a bunch of other stuff done too, god knows what. she's in great shape and engine has been bullet proof, its the rest of it thats starting to fall apart.

Hi Jim!! Im back for as long as they keep paying me!! (fingers crossed) I hope to get out and back into the trails come spring.

I use Gunbarrel Import Motors located at 283 2nd Ave in Downtown Niwot. (Between Boulder and Longmont) They have a mechanic there named John Putnins that personally drives a diesel 110 and a D-90. He would be the mechanic that would do the work on your truck.
