Red face Help me plez

Hi im in the middle of a dilemma, im going to fit 15" mach 5 rims [powercoated black ] to my SWB defender 90, im going you be doing a bit of offroading but im also using it for everyday use. i would like some help and views on choosing tyre make and size [i would like a wide sized tyre]. i recently asked a friend whos also into land rovers he said 'get a 33,12,50 tyre'

What are youir views / experiance in choosing tyres?

I run a 285/75/16 BFG AT on Mach 5 rims and they fit great! The extra lip on the tire sticks out a mm over the edge of the rim which will prevent the rim from getting bent on the edge. Also, as you know the rim is hubcentric and the edges are rolled so I doubt you'll ever bend one.

There are a few folks here in the US with Mach 5 but no too many.

Here's a pic of my setup (I had to remove my sliders to shorten them because the tires were rubbing, I also have a lot of trimming to do on the rear 1/4 panel):

nice, tyres suit rim lovely. are they the widest tyre you can get on that rim?

Those are 16x7 they also come in 16x8 and I believe 16x10. I wouldn't go wider than 285/75 on the 16x7.

Those are sexy wheels. But I thought the reason you dont see many here is that they were not DOT approved, but I could be wrong.
