hi all,i purchased a 1984 Land rover 110 defender 2 door pickup earlier this year. Been doing alot of research and know quite a bit on the models as my brother has a 1996 Defender 5 door 300TDI. I know for a fact the engine was swapped in mine, last owner ditched the 2.25 petrol for a Nissan TD27 Diesel mated to the LT77 gearbox. This is the confusing part for me. My low range selector even though it says push up for N the L, up as in the front of the vehicle is H,then N then L. So you have to pull down for L,which i never saw in other defenders before. So much so,this model also has Fairey Free Running Hubs (my guess for this is because it didnt come with power steering) infront which works with Diff lock off. Weird i know,i read some other threads that there were about 50 of the first model defenders that came with free running hubs but i dont know if this is one of them. I did the jack up test where i engaged Diff lock, locked front hubs and jacked up one wheel to see if it turns. With diff lock off and on,it doesnt turn, tried it on both sides. If i jack up the frontend where both wheels are off the ground and diff lock was off,it does pull itself off, which is weird.Anyways here's some pics of her.
