Help me decide how to paint my 90 :)

I am going to be dropping off the parts of my 90 to get painted in the next few days and I cannot decide if I want to paint the hood / grill the same as the body or if I want to paint it black.

Originally I had planned to paint it the same as the body color but now I am thinking that it might be a bit too much orange and that maybe the black hood / grill would break up the orange a little.

I was trying to stay away from having it look like a replica of a fire and ice defender but the black sure seems to tone down the orange.

Already have black 5 bar for the top of the wings so not sure how that would affect the look. Might breakup the orange enough to keep the hood / grill body color and might be too much black if I were to paint the hood / grill black?

For the people that think I should go with a different color the bulkhead is already painted and put together so no turning back now.

Keep it simple. What kind of orange is that? Looks nice. I'm not a fan of the fire & ice edition. Too busy.

X2 on the Fire and Ice. I do think painting the light surrounds the body color is a good look. Also, you can always paint the hood black later or add black chequer plate.

If you are sold on the chequer plate I would say paint the hood orange and keep the grill black.

What color is the roof going to be? If you do the bonnet I would do the roof too.

Use the chequer plate and paint the center of the hood satin black. I vote black grill and flares, I don't like body color trim.

A little off topic, but is that a 2011 D90? What type of lights are being used? I was wondering if the grill and light cluster will fit in an older NAS D90? I like the look.

There are already holes in the top of the wing for the 5 bar protectors so they are staying (too many little dents already)

Top will be a black badger

Flares are matte black NAS style

When you guys are saying to keep the grill black are you talking about the black plastic part or the metal part under the plastic grill? I think I am going with the normal defender grill and surrounds like the factory... The KBX center looks decent but I do not like the part that goes around the lights

I say paint it all one color. You can get a blackout decal for the hood later if it's too much.

The only thing bad about black is that it shows every imperfection. If you have a flawless bonnet, I'd say go black, but if you have little dents here and there, then a color will hide the imperfections.

I do like the black bonnet/grill look, though!

clearly you haven't met Dave. No way there are dents in his hood.

I'm with Charles. I think the fender protectors, grill, and headlight surrounds are enough black accents-especially with the top and flares.

Keep the bonnet orange and the front plastic bits black.

Just my opinion...

Prepped everything and dropped it off at the body shop, they said it should be done when I get back from Cali in a few weeks.

Decided to go all orange for now

Thanks for the input

That is in the hands of the body shop guys at this point. I asked them to get rid of all of the non factory dents and not to mess with any of the factory spot welds or standard LR standard dents.

Body was really straight with a couple of door dings here and there so it should turn out nice (fingers crossed).

Is the implication that some dents are from the factory?
