Help! LOUD fan noise!

I hope this is an easy fix.

About a week ago my engine became really loud; louder than it ever has been. I thought maybe the auxiliary fan was permanently on as it sounds like fan noise. The engine doesnít sound bad at all; just loud! The volume increases with speed; at idle, the engine sounds normal but the sound gets louder as I accelerate. If I hit the kick-down itís it sounds like engine is over-revving but the tachometer is still around 2000rpm. The engine is not overheating.

Itís just a loud blowing noise. Is this the fan clutch? Is it somehow spinning faster than it should?

Iíve heard it make this sound a few times since I got it 3 years ago right after starting it up, but it would go away after a couple minutes.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Paul

Probably the fan clutch... Double check to make sure that it is not the water pump starting to go. If it turns out to be the fan clutch, I would change it over to electric fans. Makes a big improvement and you get a small bump in horse power too.
