Help identifying this 90 Land Rover

First time post...so I hope this is ok...

The wife told me I need a project to keep me busy, so found this Land Rover 90 at a local auction site...

Personally, it's probably too much of a project for me, but I though someone here with more knowledge could give their thoughts, and maybe some idea on cost

I tried the VIN decoder and it looks like a 1984 2.5 diesel 5 speed..

Warning, not the pretties thing in the world!

https://bid13.com/storage-auctions/i...age/unit-bi262

Thanks.

Ex-MOD pre 85 ... so should have 2.5NA diesel - but it could be anything - also looks pretty decent.

My suggestion... Talk to someone locally that can look at it and provide a reasonable value. A lot of these auctions go too high. There are a lot of very experienced people in Edmonton. The local club is having a gathering on Wednesday and would be a good time to meet people.

Edmonton Monthly Gathering

The photos and video on the auction site do not show anything of importance that you want to see when looking at a Defender. You need to see the rust prone areas and the mechanicals. These ex-BATUS trucks are usually okay for rust, but can be very beat up.

Thanks.
Ex-Uk MOD from the registration number, LHD FFR with 24 generator, and i think 12v main system.

My guess is it was left in canada and used to be a base truck, and now in private hands it was striped for paint (minimally). You would need more pics to get a better assessment.

Thanks, I agree pictures cannot do justice.

I was trying to look on the classifieds for comparable to see what's sold, but being in Canada sometimes things can go for alot more here than down south.

Alot of the military stuff on the Canada Govt auction sites always seem to go for way more than I'd be willing to spend.

One can always dream of a barn find that just starts right up, no?

You have that backwards. US Defender prices are much higher than in Canada. If that is in good rust free and running shape, I would not pay more than $5000.
