Unhappy Help, brake light problem!

Well, I do not have any brake lights when I press on the brake pedal. When I turn on the headlights, the rear brake lights come on, but do not increase in intensity when the brake pedal is pushed. All the fuses look O.K., and the little servo on the top of the brake master cylinder are looks o.k too. Where should I start looking for problems?

Thanks,

Matt...

Rear wiring harness on the frame. Check for loose grounds. . .

When I had a similar problem the dead part was the brake light switch. The tail lights worked, but the brake lights didn't. The replacment part number is PRC4297 (page 298 of the parts manual). It's around $19 at a dealer. The problem is installing it. It is above the brake pedal assembly on the engine side of the bulkhead. After trying to do it myself and realizing that replacing it involved removing the whole brake pedal assembly I paid a local independent Rover shop to do it for me. No mess, no fuss, no pissed-off landlord. If you have the tools, confidence, and workspace it is a cheap do-it-yourself repair.

Thanks Mark,

I replaced the switch and my brake lights work again. Easiest 21 dollars spent so far.
