Hella install warning

Finally installed a set of black magic 1000s and overcame the following obstacles. I thought I'd post this for posterity in case someone else encounters the same issues.
First issue was that the lamps were way too big to fit in the holders. A little "convincing" and bending got them to fit.
Then, after wiring everything up, no light. Checked the switch and it was okay. Bypassed the relay and there was light. Finally discovered that the pre-wired harness was not wired correctly to the socket that plugs onto the relay. Battery power and ground were reversed. Switched them and everything worked just fine.
Very disappointed in Hella QC.
