heater intermittent function

I've had the defender a couple months now and this is the second time I've had the heater simply stop working... fuse is fine, next thoght would be the thermostat. has anyone experienced this issue?

thanks,
-Chuck

An intermittent electrical fault could be a loose ground.

Stop working as in the fan shuts off without warning? If so I had the same issue which I fixed by disassembling, cleaning, tightening and reassembling the switch lever mechanism which was just loose, sloppy and inaccurate.

Yes, you need to be more specific. If the fan is blowing and the heat sucks, thermostat or possibly water pump. Although I had no overheating issues, a new water pump made everything warm and fuzzy.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but did I see you on Speer approaching Federal last Saturday Chuck?
I waved as I turned left in front of you into Autozone in my black Range Rover Classic - if that was you.

Paul, Art, Shane,

thanks for Your responses. yes, the fan is completely dead. the intermittency doesn't hhave th characteristic trait of a loose ground. twice since I've had it the fan has simply stopped and then a couple days later miraculously worked again. it's alwas blown hot (when blowing) too...

Art,
yep, that was me on speer. now that I have another D90, I imagine I'll be frequenting that AZ ; )
