Heat gauge moving as I turn the key

Hey Guys

I have a 3.5 V8 110, as soon as I turn the ignition on the heat guage goes from cold straight to hot. Where do I start looking. I know there is a new sensor in but think its a brit part. What else can I look at? to solve this problem?

Thanks

Sounds like you should check all ground connections, specifically engine to bulkhead. Also make sure the gauge is grounded. Many times the gauges are all sharing a single ground behind the dash. Double check.

It's called a temperature or temp gauge.
In order for it to peg the high temp range the wire to the sender would have to be grounded.
Welcome from ZA.

Hello Theo, as you are in Africa you sure that's not the outside temperature gauge lol, but as said above you have a wire shorting on sometime or the new sender is nackered. Also use No tread tape to seal the sender. Good luck in your quest.

The voltage is going straight through as if the wire connection from the gauge is fixed to the block.
Replace defective sensor

Good advice.
The sender wire could have come loose and grounded.
