headliner knowledge needed

Well, I've gotten ALL of the interior trim out and took down headliner, much easier than I thought..

My question is; the first shop I took it to seemed to be actually afraid of recovering the sun visors and only has options using a foam backed headliner that you see in most cars, are there vinyl options out there? none of the choices seemed particularly close to factory as far as color is concerned. I think there are only two more shops in town although we have a HUGE supplier. What options have others used for the headliner? 95 NAS WAGON.

Thanks!!

Sheesh, never mind

Well, I didn't have a good feeling about the first shop so I took it to another shop and oh boy what a difference. These guys had literally thousands of books and samples. Finally settled on a Mercedes vinyl that is almost a perfect match of the original headliner material. They will be redoing it and a seat back that had a small rip, replacing cushions and cleaning original Moreland cloth. Should look pretty good when done.

I'll post a few before and after pics.

Over and out..

I like the LR foam cushions, amazingly firm after 17 years of use. Don't know that I'd settle for anything less than LR originals

Make sure you dynamat the roof whilst the headliner is out, and everywhere else you have the interior removed...difference is amazing...

Hushmat for the roof

I definitely concur with taking the time now to install Hushmat acoustic and thermal matting to the inside of the roof. It reduces "oil canning" and insulates against the summer sun here in So Cal. I bought a 30 piece box of Hushmat from upholstery distributors Keystone Upholstery, here locally, and applied it liberally to roof, seat box, and flooring.

See pictures.
