Headliner--homemade?

I don't have the funds to buy a headliner, but I feel I can build just about anything. I have a 94D90 that I am insulating the roof and need a headliner for--has anyone built one themselves that may have some advice? I am not looking for a stock look, just something that will work well. Any advice is always appreciated.

Mercedesrover on GnR and Expo did this:

http://www.seriestrek.com/headliner.html using bits from www.mcmaster.com

That being said, I have LaSalle. If you can swing it they are nice and Brian should be able to hook you up rather than buying directly like I did.

My issue is one of finances more than anything. The last two years have been tough on our household and I am about to sell my Disco and RRC even though we will just get a pittance out of them as my wife is having work issues and things are about to get tougher. I'm keeping the D90--soon to be relegated to more of a daily driver, so I have to do some repairs and make it more livable, so to speak. Hard times come and go, and I am going to find creative ways to keep the D90--I built it from scratch so it would sit heavy on me if I had to sell it. I sold my 68 convertible firebird many a year ago and I have always regretted it...

I have used marine boat liner to redo the hood lining in my Disco's,worked well. When I get around to it will also do the Defender in the same material.Available from any boat chandler, make sure you have the nap the right way up,smooth side out.

Chris, if you don't already have a solution nor any headliner at all, I'll give you the genuine one on my 90 currently. It does need to be re-covered, but it might be a good start. I was planning on trying to flip it on here but it sounds like you could really use it. I only ask you pay for shipping or wait till I move out to El Paso in October and we can meet or minimize shipping costs to Colorado I presume. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer! I would love to make that work. I put down my cat of 18 years today, so maybe I can contact you in a couple days? I feel like I have to unplug but didn't want you to think I couldn't use it. Thanks so much :-)

No issues, it will be about a month before I can get it off the truck anyway. Sorry about your cat; not a cat man but it sucks to lose any pet.
