As on "old schooler" - I run Cibie 7" lights - a little harder to find but a better light than Hellas in my opinion - I think I got my latest set from one of the Miata websites.

Smile Duh: I just read page 2 of this thread....

Just decided to browse a bit and noticed this old thread on Headlamps.

A great alternative to all those "bling" headlamps is available from Alan Dobbs at GCR:
http://www.gulfcoastrovers.com/all/trucklite/index.htm

I've had mine for quite a few years and they flat WORK!
Doug

PS: OOPS: just went to page 2 of this thread and see some people mentioned these! Sorry. But my recommendation stands!!

LOL 'Gulf Coast Rover' and 'See installation on a Red Hummer'.......

However, it IS a photo of an H1, which is acceptable.

Upgrade the wiring? Or just use the relay deal so the switch doesnt get fried?

[the light ciruit goes through the hi/lo beam switch - so if you up the bulb wattage, you up the current through the switch and likely will burn it sooner rather than later].

That's basically what I mean, though I like to run larger gauge wiring in the portion that runs to the bulbs. The factory stuff is really thin, but yes relay too.

I am running the silver star... I have not noticed any issues, except having to replace the light switch, which is a normal Defender problem.

Not to hi-jack this post, but has anyone done a Xenon/HID conversion? My buddy did his BMW, and it seemed pretty easy.

Don't replace the switch, insert a harness that takes the load off the switch....

Then your switch will never fail.

I'm curious about a xenon/HID conversion as well. Anyone done it?
