Or JW Speaker makes a 7" round LED headlight too that seems to work better than their Truck-Lite counterpart...at over twice the cost.

Truck-Lite makes one pair and JW Speaker makes the other. You can pick either up from eBay and YouTube has a few videos on both. And just so you're forewarned, sometimes this 7" headlight upgrade is a Jeep thing...you wouldn't understand.

And just my 2, but the Truck-Lite headlights have jeweled glass lenses. It's an older style look and also a look that is somewhat shared with the stock headlight of the Defender. When I did the Truck-Lite conversion in my G the headlight added a more modern and updated look without looking space age.

Putting HIDs or LEDs on a Defender is like putting a toupee on Patrick Stewart. For a lot of reasons. I'm not saying its a good or bad thing, just a thing.

Truck lite has replaced the old style led like the one on your g with a newer reflector style that outperforms the jw speaker light.

These led lights were recently tested in a 4x4 mag...

Fourwheeler magazine tested these in the December issue

http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...eadlight_test/

FWIW, I have a set of standard Trucklite replacement housings (not the LED ones) and think they give plenty of light. It is not HID by any means but works well and fits the truck...

Ive been extremely happy with Hella e-codes, Ciebie housings get high marks as well. The e-codes and stock bulbs are more than adequate. I imagine running a higher wattage bulb through a proper wiring harness will give similar results at a fraction of the price.

HID's are sweet, I had some Hella 4000 HID's for a little while they were incredible while they worked. Those lights would turn the trail into daytime.

You can google "Harley Daymaker LED" and it should pop up. Seems to be around the same price as others though.

I could only find the daymakers for $500 a piece. JW Speakers can be found for $360 a piece. So much for the Harleys being half off.

Sorry - I was under the impression that JW Speaker lights were still MSRP around 900 dollars.

No worries. I've been tracking the cost as I am about to pull the trigger on a pair of JW's.

If there was some sort of group buy on these things where we could knock down the price a little then I'd most likely be on board.

Cosmetically speaking, I'd go Truck-Lite old style, JW Speaker, then Truck-Lite new style. I personally prefer the look of these over simply putting a HID bulb and ballast in there.

There is no substitute for awesome lighting on the road.

Great, now I have to hunt down a pair of LED tail lights for my truck...
