Headlight failure alarm sounding when headlights switched on.

Hi there,
My 2000 TD5 has headlight problem after disconnecting a trailer recently all failed.
affter switching the ignition on & off all came back on.
However on my way home from work a few days ago they failed completely.
When the headlight switch is activated the alarm sounder goes off,.
The switch & main beam switch & stalk have been replaced problem still remains.
All fuses earths checked dim dip bypassed relays & checked trailer socket disconnected as corroded.
Voltage meter connected to the brown headlight feed gives 11v engine running 13v but when the switch is activated or the alarm red led (now dim)on the speedometer activates the voltage drops to 3v alarm sounder goes off.
Any suggestions?

Have you checked the grounds at the right rear of the truck? I would also check the interior light switch in the drivers door.

Fixed at last.

I gave up on trying to trace the problem any further,r owing to starting another tour of shifts, and using my rest days up getting wet & cold.

I dropped the land rover off at a long established specialist who took a further 4 hours to trace it to a fault in the headlamp blue/ red cable, and fix it with a new section cable.

Thanks once again for all the advice.
