Question Has anyone ever modified the rear bulkhead bar so you can install reclining seats?

I think this is the only part of my D90 that I hate (well one of the few things). There are times where I just want to recline my seat and streeeeetch my legs. Especially after a long drive or if I'm waiting for someone. What if you bent a new rear bulkhead bar that is more vertically matched to the tub wall so that you can recline a seat all the way back. Possible? Also can you modify a D90 seat to recline all the way back? Can't remember if we could.

On our NAS trucks we have what you guys call a bulkhead removal bar. Problem is it dosen't allow much of a recline angle.

reclining

Neil,
Do you have a set of the Mud U.K. seat extenders? It moves the seat back and over the seat box to tub sheet metal? It gives you more leg room and you sit a bit higher.

I have been looking for this...if you find someone to fabricate a replacement, count me in on a group buy.

I found the trouble with those extenders, is it raises the height of the seat (by 3/4") and, if you're tall like I am, you end up looking through the sun visors.

Mine was gone for a bit, as the previous owner had installed a Tuffy console, must have forgotten to install the spacers, and said to hell with it. Of course it could just be perception, but I think re-installing it stiffened the body up quite a bit, in a good way. When I used to go around turns with it removed, I would once in a while get a door that would swing open, which I attributed to the body twisting/flexing a bit...because when I re-installed the bulkhead W bar, the doors stopped swinging open. It obviously ties the whole roolcage together, too, which is always good.

I have them installed in both front seats.

Yes, if you are in pole position at a traffic intersection, you have to see 'under' the visor for the light change, but the added comfort of the additional leg room and being able to recline the seat that much more makes it worth it. For reference, I am 6'4".

The other nice thing is it gives you a little bit of room under the seat to store the big maglights and a holster for a full frame hangun (if thats your thing).
