Good way/place to check codes?

Hi all. I was driving yesterday and the check engine light came on. I have a 97 NAS 90 w/4.0. I'm just wondering what the best way to check the code would be?
Thanks,
V.

Either use a reader (always a good thing to have). Most auto parts stores have them to.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

When my check engine light comes on, I stop and open the bonnet to see if it's still there. Engine checked.
If you have a smartphone, many have ancillary attachments that you can plug in and use with your iPhone or Android. Not sure about BB or Windows phones.

You can invest in one that pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth. Just search Amazon.com for idb2 Bluetooth.
