Good shops in LA to help with 110 engine

Hi Guys,

I'm in a bit of a bind. I recently purchased a '83 110 that has been extensively renovated. My problem is that the engine had some knocking ( death rattle). I knew about this but i was hoping to get some miles out of the vehicle before I had to do major work. Most agree that the knocking had to do with something in the bottom end/ cylinders. The engine is the stock "83 dual carb V8 gas version.

The rattle has become REALLY bad and I managed to limp home but I fear it's shot.

Can anyone recommend any good shops in the Los Angeles ( or other SoCal ) area that would do a great job on the engine? I would love to find someone who's really experienced.
I would prefer to put in a brand new engine if possible. The one I have has been rebuilt already and I'm not sure how wise it would be to keep sinking $$'s into it.
Any suggestions on a good way to go would be greatly appreciated.

I also had the misfortune of being hit by an 18 wheeler in my Disco which wrote that vehicle off so now I'm essentially without a ride.

Thank you.

Amy

Personally I always have my work done at four oaks. It is a husband and wife operation that has been working on land rovers forever. They are decent and don't overcharge. They never hassle me when I bring my own parts either. They are in santa monica off colorado.

I've had Eddie working on my truck for 6 years. I've tried the others above, and Eddie has turned out to be the most reliable and the straightest shooter.

I used both 4 oaks and British Car service depending on what needed to be done. They are both excellent. 4 oaks is great for regular maintenance and repairs and like mentioned above owned by a very honest couple but I would lean to towards BCS if you wanted work done on an older vehicle. The owner is English and grew up with rovers and owns an original Camel Trophy 110.

There's a great guy right in North Hollywood. British Cars USA. The guys name is Hovik and he's always done great work and treated me well. Can't beat the location if you're in Studio City and he knows his Rovers.
