I felt the same way. Called Dakota. They shipped me the bezel. I'm going to have it blasted and powder coated matte black, send it back to them and they will build me that gauge cluster with the modified bezel. I also advised that they will see other Defender orders and chrome doesn't really go so they should offer a matte black anyway. See if they update their product or not.

I don't like the chrome bezel either. It reflects the backlighting and produces some clare at night. Otherwise, it's a great upgrade.

Just because a few people asked:

We are seeing about 14mpg in mixed driving with the LS3 in this very heavy (fully galvanized and caged) 110.

Wouldn't it be a complete blast to have a sleeper 110 with this plant under the bonnet? Maybe we have to start calling it a hood and not bonnet when sporting Merican mussel.

Externally, there is absolutely no reason why anyone would be able to tell that this conversation has been carried out!

OK so I finally decided to spray paint my bezel black using a transparent paint so it kept the chrome look without the bling factor. I went this way as I have had issues in the past trying to remove chrome from aluminum! Sorry for the dodgy pics...

The set up is superb. Ours is the LS3 and it is smooth and docile when you want it to be. It hardly works at all to move the 110 around. In low range it is smooth and does not hunt or get jumpy on the throttle. If you decide you want to get into it the power on the highway it is nothing short of amazing. I have driven NAS 110s with 3.9s, 4.6s, our Pursuit 4.6 and 5.2 engines. None of that comes even close to this truck, not by a long shot.
The set up fits correctly and everything is easy to access and service. The service intervals on the LS3 are so far superior to the Rover V8 that it isn't even in the same category.
Outwardly you can't tell it has the LS3. The starter sounds different than the Rover V8 starter, but at idle and all it sounds like any other V8 110 (unless you are in the throttle hard).
The tap shift set up on the 6L80E means you can drive it nearly like a manual when you want.
As each guy here drives this truck the words when they exit the truck range from "Holy Shit" to "Wow" to "That is amazing".
Nothing short of amazing sums it up.
how did you get the tap shift working in the end? I've read back through most of the posts and there never seemed to be a conclusion as to what was needed (bcm or no bcm).

... and stupid question: can someone explain to me exactly how the tapshift works - do you need paddle shifter for it or do you just flick the switch and tap the shift lever up and down gears?

Other than the fact that it looks perfect? I love analog. Nice find. If I couldn't make the stock cluster gauges work, I'd use this one.

Others may have asked and sorry for asking here again. Would you be able to share the link? Anyone else know more (make or model or manufacturer) about this cluster?
