But how does the stock Defender axles handle the power and torque of the LS?
Being my 97' D90 is AWD with the transfer case, I was worried if I went down this road that the new engine would burn these stock axles and transfer case right up.

Thanks!
If this is truly an issue.....

New engine mounts must be made to mount the LS. Why not go ahead and install GM axels and T case etc. also? Seems no more invasive to me.

??? This conversion uses the stock engine mounts.

The transfer case is fine. Axles could use upgrades if you are using the truck off road, which is the case regardless of the engine.

You should be changing the half shafts to handle the horsepower. Stock ones will break.

1. I think the whole point of the adapter is so you CAN use the stock rover tcase, driveshafts and axles. Going with other drivetrain components sort of defeats the purpose.

2. You should easily be able to run stock two pin diffs and halfshafts with an LS7.

3. Drive the rover like a normal person and you have nothing to worry about.

4. If you plan on driving abusively, then uprated components can't hurt.

Do they work on 300tdi mounts ?

If you don't want the go with the 6l80 I have a bell housing to mate the LS engines to the ZF 4 speed, was about to list it on ebay!

isn't the output shaft on the 6l80 the same regardless of 2wd or 4wd applications?

No, that's not correct. 2.5" inlet, 2.5" outlet. I have a 2.5" Magnaflow system. Went right in.

Scott,

I thought we sorted all that out with Gary. Tach, speedo, and MAP. What issues are still outstanding? You should be running E38_0011.ctz tune file.

Maybe I'm mistaken on the exhaust size. Will check out in the morning....He's getting my daughters car back in service. Yes V11 is what we are running; MAP is sorted out but the RPM or MPH's still aren't reading correctly.

Anyone waiting for a low mile engine ought to consider this one. I have no dog in the fight just passing along info. I bought mine from this guy and ship was very reasonable. Ending price wont be much more than the starting price.
