isn't the output shaft on the 6l80 the same regardless of 2wd or 4wd applications?

No, that's not correct. 2.5" inlet, 2.5" outlet. I have a 2.5" Magnaflow system. Went right in.

Scott,

I thought we sorted all that out with Gary. Tach, speedo, and MAP. What issues are still outstanding? You should be running E38_0011.ctz tune file.
Maybe I'm mistaken on the exhaust size. Will check out in the morning....He's getting my daughters car back in service. Yes V11 is what we are running; MAP is sorted out but the RPM or MPH's still aren't reading correctly.

Anyone waiting for a low mile engine ought to consider this one. I have no dog in the fight just passing along info. I bought mine from this guy and ship was very reasonable. Ending price wont be much more than the starting price.

ah excellent! just had a breeze through your thread that answers some of my concerns great write up cheers! i will be referring to this a bit i think! now i have a work vehicle im currently in the stages of hoarding all the bits i need to do the job so not planning on stripping my 110 just yet so i can keep taking it out on the weekends when time allows, but once i do i will most definitely get in contact with you! thanks for the offer on the zf housing but now im confident its not much of an issue to get our 2wd 6l80e to work that's definitely the path i want to take.

Almost all of the parts other then engine and box have come from the US. Summit are great with overseas delivery and Mark was a fantastic help. Unfortunately recent currency fluctuations have made US parts about 20% more expensive then when I started if you keep your orders under 1000 AUD it's still often worth it though.!

a while back someone else asked this but I couldn't find the answer again and there might be some change.
What is needed for this to work in a 2003 2004 D2? And say that D2 was not in California.

Mechanically it's not that dissimilar to installing onto a classic or D1, area of work that needs to be done is the integration of the engine ECU and the D2's BCM. Unless that is, Nick's already got that in hand.... prob not that hard for someone who's worked with CANBus.

The engine mounts are different. Then there is the 4.0L vs 4.6L differences. The 4.6L came with the ZF4HP24 which is longer than the ZF4HP22. The front drive line is a different length. I have to figure out where they moved things like the transfer case weldments.

Also, as Andy said, the electrics are more complicated too.

I will have a D2 in my shop in a month or two to work these things out.

I figured I'd give a quick update.

I only have about 20 miles on it so far, I'm still work through a bunch of minor details. Overall impressions so far: "Damn! This thing pulls!" I did try a couple steep inclines, and it just motors up them with no complaint. The old 3.5 was ragging out 2nd gear and still barely moving on the same inclines.

Over the weekend I did get a chance to install some fun stuff, a little off topic but check it out-

Haha, it's all part of my Evel Knievel plan.

I needed the motor to hit the ramp, then the awning to rapid deploy and float over the 37 LR4's in the mall parking lot.
