glow plug question

This is just a shot in the dark to save me time looking through parts books.

Does anyone happen to know off hand the Ford part # for the glow plug timer that fits the 300 tdi.

Not sure if it's for European Fords only or if it crosses to a US model.

Thanks in advance. If I find it first I will post the number

Happy New Year

Those ones are fakes. Buyer beware.

I wouldn't call them fakes, but they are most definitely not OEM, assuming that was understood

generic would be a nicer way to put it

Thanks Bill but I have that #. George does typically have better prices but they are still LR parts. I try not to pay Land Rover prices whenever possible. It always get me that they most likely just buy the part from the same supplier as Ford, slap their part # on and mark it up. The Ford relay retails for $50 or less.

They have the US market so fooled that they are something special when they are just a UK "Ford" type product.

"Same one is used in ford scorpio 4cyl diesels, euro only " I was afraid of that I tried a bunch of VW ones i have but no luck.

RN sells that one as a pro line but they are out of stock.

I will check my Hella parts book. Maybe they have one.

Thanks guys

Just hard wire them to a toggle switch and flip 'em on for a ten count. Boom! you just saved a hundred bucks. Put a big ol warning lamp somewhere that you know when they are on since they draw huge amps.
You can also find just plain old timer relays from many of the usual suspects like Mouser and Digi Key and all...many with adjustable delay.

Hey Eric, nice suggestion. I don't even get the Berg treatment with parts hahaha How about you explain to my wife she has to flip a switch and count when it's cold. I'm sure that will go over like a fart in church. I have trouble getting here to wait the few sec on the Jetta glow plugs.

You know, If I was not a daily driver or I was the only person driving it or it was a toy fine. The switch would be a great option. Oh well it could be worse, I could drive a Mini Van. my personal image of "life in Hell" hahaha

Hope to see you soon my friend

I'll have to tap up some friends with Tdi's and look under their bonnets (for part numbers), but I know for a fact (because i've owned brand new ones from the factory....) that 200 and 300Tdi's had "Ford" branded timer relays fitted from new.

Like I say, will have to have a look to get some part numbers for you.

That's what I did, but I used a push an hold button so they can't be left on.

Thanks Brother! keep me posted. I leave for the show season in a few days so no real rush. Still tracking down the Ford part. I will keep you posted. I also get the Kats block heater today. $37.00 from Amazon. Crazy price

First real cold day today 19 degrees. It will be in the 60's in two days. Seems like winter is almost over hahaha

Yes Dennis, that is the one I got. Already have on in the other truck. If you go to their website they have a great PDF download on all the products they sell and good specs.
