generic door and window seals

I have been working on fixing up my old Ex-MOD defender, and I have run into the issue of seals. Most of them are dry and cracked, and all of them are painted green, which doesn't help as i'm changing the color. I did some searches to find replacement seals for the windows and doors but all of the prices people want are outrageously high. So I did a search here on DefenderSource and I came up empty.

Does anyone have any experience putting in off brand seals for the windows or doors? It seems to me like the windows might be able to have standard seals from an auto parts store, but the lip on the door seals seems like it might have to be specific to the defender. I'm building this to be a driver and not a show car, so they don't have to be perfect, they just have to do the job of keeping water out.

I just thought I would check with you lot to see if there was anyone who has ran into this issue before and found a handy way to get around it. Or maybe I will just have to suck it up and pay the big bucks for the real deal.

Thanks.

You can try RDS, Rovahfarm, Safarihp. These guys might have something more in your price range. If not you might do some search in the For Sale section here and on the other forums and see if anyone is selling their seals that they dont have need for for.

Just went down to advance auto and picked up their door seal stuff. It is EXACTLY the same as what comes on the 1987 exmod with painted door seals in my driveway. Ran it around my rear door with about 2 feet to spare.
30 bucks for the roll.

I think I paid 60 bucks for both front doors on amazon though.. so.... about the same. But at least I got it "today". Took me a couple weeks to get it from the "dude" that was selling on amazon.

I just threw away the box.. but I want to say it was labeled Something"X 3/4" whatever measurement that was for. They normally have many sizes, but the manager in edgewater isn't the best at keeping the shelves stocked. They're rather laid back. Which has its ups and downs.
