Thumbs up General Info: Wiper Control Positions

Just out of curiosity:

The wiper control switch on my 97 ST has 4 positions:

#1 - (Start position) OFF
#2 - (Position #1 + UP 1 step) INTERMITENT
#3 - (Position #1 + UP 2 steps) CONSTANT
#4 - (Position #1 - DOWN 1 step) Nothing happens.

Is somehting supposed to happend when i am in the 4th position (1 step down from the Start position)? Is it a miraculous high-speed position that just doesnt work on my D90 (highly unlikely i know)? Or is it intended for the SW rear window?

Thanks.

Thanks Mike,

I just went out the truck to double check -- and your explanation matches my setup exactly. HOWEVER, my INT/ "All the way down" position does not function at all.

Any theories why the intermittent poistion would not work? Just a bad control switch?

Thanks!

There is a wiper control timer unit down by the flasher relay (bulkhead fuse box). It likely went TU.

Okay, how about wiper blades that change their sweep angle. I replaced the knurled holders for the blades. When it's running the driver blade works fine but it changes it's sweep so that at times half of it is off the window catching flies. Is this a motor issue?
Thanks
