gas struts on a NAS hood

Has anyone done this? Pictures and a source on the struts would be awesome. Not sure there is enough of a rolled lip on the outside to accomplish this though. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Just ordered these:

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...711435&alt=web

When they arrive I will take measurements from some cars then fish around in parts stores for struts. First thoughts? Tahoe struts.

If I get to finagle them in my TD5, I'll post and mention you full details.

I wish, I've got the rickety prop-stick made from an old coat hanger attached and secured to the underside of the bonnet. I'd be much happier with the handy-dandy scissoring prop-brace most of you guys use.

LOL- yeah, I was about to throw away the old struts that would no longer hold up a Lexus hood and I thought hmmm.....

Because the RRC has tension springs only 1 worn out strut is required.

I will say, considering how often a Land Rover hood needs to open...it is nice to have the struts.
It also eliminates the pole being right in your way in the middle/front...grrrr.

I was going to do this on my last 90, did all the measurements and ordered the parts and sold the truck. I may still have the parts and parts list somewhere.

Struts

I picked up the bits from the local brakers yard for 5 just used the lightest lift I could find and grabbed a selection of ball ends from various boot lids.

I've since found a shorter pair of struts, again at the breakers it now opens high enough to do service jobs and low enough to reach the edge of the bonnet.

Gratuitous bonnet photo for the titilation of Doug..

The last time I saw a gas strut hood there was substantial bracing at the ball ends on both sides. Can't really see what you did there. Great mod, just hope it doesn't tweak the aluminum.
