Gas Cap leak

Anyone ever have this happen before? I've changed caps and my tank is still pushing gas. I wonder if I've got a line blocked somewhere -- recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Doug W.

Unhuh. It was leaking before and after RRV. stock cap started leaking, aftermarket cap started leaking, replacement stock cap leaks.

Just so I'm on the same page as you.... is the problem that your system won't pressurize completely?
Have you put your gas caps on a tester to make sure they're bad?

Doug,

are you running the right part? Stant: BG791 or NAPA 70321103.

I also have an extra cap that I know does not leak... On my truck that is. would you like to try it out and see if it corects the problem. That way if it doesn't we could move on to other causes.

I have a Disco cap on their now, 'cause I wanted to upgrade to the cap with a 'tail' so it can't get misplaced. It's brand new. John Lee from EE did the same with his Defender and it worked great, no leak or issues at all. I believe that somehow my gas tank is getting OVER pressurized, and pushing gas slosh up the fill pipe with such pressure that hte cap is releasing and letting it out. So I'm wondering if there is a simple release valve or vent that is stuck or clogged.

This spring I got rid of a medium duty deisel truck that had compression problems in the top end. It created so much pressure it pushed back up the fuel system all the way to the two 50 gal tanks, which bulged out like ballpark franks.

A good guess in your situation might be a restriction in your return line.
