Gas Cap!!!

O.K.

Does any one know what type of gas cap the D-90 takes. I might as well stock up on a few, I just lost my first, and I don't think it will be my last.

Matt...

hmmm , I don't know I just ordered mine from Rovers North when I lost mine last year. But I did see one sitting on a gas pump a few weeks ago here in NH. PS when you fill up stick the cap in the pump handel thats what I do so I don't loose it.

You could get the one with a teeter (sp?) thingy. I believe it's the same one in the Discos but I could be wrong. You could get them from a bunch of the stores in the vendor list that sells Genuine LR parts like AB, DAP, EE, RN, RDS...etc.

Luckily for us in Jersey, it is illegal to pump our own gas.

I think that roverconnection.com has one with the 'thingy' on it so you don't lose it...

and

GLENN,

I'm a NJ Native... Sussex originally then Marlboro before I moved here... in any case... is it really ILLEGAL ? I didn't know that, I just thought it was the 'custom' up there.

Hmm...

Nicholas

You can pick one up at any auto parts store. I'm on my third.

Since this thread has a N.J. theme going...I too lived in Marlboro, as well as Holmdel. Grew up in Montclair.

NAPA usually has them in stock (locking and non-locking). Don't have a P/N offhand.

EE has the D2 tethered cap for which is farily cheap. RN gouged me on one when I needed a new one - old one didn't pass emmissions.

https://www.expeditionexchange.com/genuine/

Nice and cheap for a change.

Cool guys. Nice to hear from fellow Jersey folks. I'm in Northern NJ (Bergen County), about 20 minutes from the GWB.

Yes, that's the word Mike... thanks

Yes Nick, it is illegal, but I don't know exactly what the reason is... LOL It is actually posted on some Gas Stations. I don't know if there are other states with the same rule.

The factory cap is a Stant, which most auto parts stores have. Just look up the P/N in the book that's usually hanging from the shelf in most stores. The right cap is usually in stock.

There are two states in the country where pumping your own gas is illegal. Oregon is the other. The reason it is in Oregon is because of a cult that resided in Wasco County in the 80's which interestingly enough started out in N.J. Law enforcement had reliable intel that this cult had plans to blow up gas stations. Several of the leaders were arrested for plotting to kill a U.S. prosecuting attorney. They were hard-core, stockpiled tons (literally) of guns, ammo, and even tanks. They also poisoned salad bars at local restaurants the night before election day to reduce voter turnout and influence the elections. Can't recall what they called themselves but they all wore orange robes.

I for one hope they've traded the orange robes for orange prison jumpsuits. How's this for a gang name? FPBA - Future Prison Bitches of America.
