Fuse Box: Glass fuse --> Spade Fuse

I wanted to take a second to thank George from RDS for supplying me with a spade fuse box kit for my 87 defender. I made the change over last night and I must say it's sad how excited I am about this upgrade. No longer will I have to sit in a parking lot or my driveway fiddling with the glass fuses!

If you have the glass fuses in your 90, I would strongly recommend getting a spade fuse box kit from George. It requires a little modification of the metal panel the fuse box attaches to, but it takes a total of 10 minutes to modify with a dremel tool. All in all, it took about 4 hours worth of fiddling and changing over and soldering each individual wire, but that included a dinner break as well, so I would say it would take most 2.5-3 hrs

Thanks again, George

I don't personally, but the idea was born from this write-up (pictures included)

I actually just finished a complete glass to blade conversion in my D90 as well, using the same supplies. I ended up cutting the new black fuse box in half and avoided cutting the metal panel box. Moving over and splicing all the wires was like doing brain surgery, but they all are firing fine now. Total time approx 4.5 hours. No pics though...

I just bought one of these:

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...id=65114108494

And two of these:

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...id=52027481190

Both came from the same seller. I'm just waiting for them in the mail. If the second type works, I figure I can keep my label on the fuse box cover the same.

I cannot claim to have found it... someone else posted a link to it on this forum. I just noticed that they had more varieties in the ebay store, so I bought the two 6 circuit panels too.

Glass fuse -->spade fuse

I am about to do this mod, has anybody got a correct 20 place fuse label that would work with this?

Or a LR part# for one

My fuse boxes showed up a few days ago and the post office busted the packaging and nearly half of the terminals were missing. But I should have enough to do the swap.

No, that looks like it's a crimper is for the red/blue/yellow pre-insulated types... you need this type for the un-insulated ones :

Get an Open Barrel Contact Crimper. You can find them local. That's what I used.

I need to do this as well. I hate the glass fuses and some times I have to spin them a bit if things are not working.

I'm incredible at procrastination it seems.

I still haven't done this 3 years later.

But I did get one step closer:
