Fuel gauge - no reading

My fuel gauge died a slow and painful death on the trip up to MAR - it started on Thursday morning - just drifting down to the empty mark on a full tank then jumping back up to the actual fuel level. It gradually spent more and more time below "E" and would occaisionally respond to a thump on the face of the gauge and jump back up to the actual fuel level. By the time we got to MAR it wouldn't come off the peg at all. Anyone else seen this?

hmm, check the connections on the back of it, they may be loose. If not swap with someone who has a good gauge to make sure your gauge is really bad, we did exactly this at Raush Creek on a wheeling trip when Ken's gauge would never show above 3/4 with a full tank. His gauge worked fine in my 90.

I checked the connections yesterday - seemed tight - I think I have a spare gauge somewhere - I'll try swapping that in tonight and post the results.
