Front propshaft U-joint ...

Does any one know if there is a North American part number (Dana Spicer or other) that will replace the U-joint on the front propshaft of my 1984 D110 or do I have to order the OEM one.

Just asking !

Thanks all !

Pat

How funny, Mike H just replaced a front U-Joint on a 1984 D110 with a Spicer around January. He had it done at his favorite local shaft place "John's Shafts and Stuff" in NH. At the very least, you could pull it, send it to John, and he could identify it.

Ahh but Jim I only had the rear shaft done. I would be willing to bet that the front shaft on a 90 is the same as a 110. Either Precision 344 or 369, or Spicer 5-153 or 5-4. Those are the numbers for the front and rear shafts of a D-90. If you can pop out a U-joint and bring it to the parts place and compare it to those numbers.

Roger ...Wilco !

I will use those numbers to find one cause every time I go to the parts places, they look at me funny when I tell them what it is for.

Thanks Mike.

Yeah I think we all run into the same problem, most of the time the parts store people see me coming and just let me walk out back and grab what i want. But Last time i was in Autozone and I asked for a U-joint for a 94 Land Rover Defender there computer listed the right part! So if you have an autozone near you I would give it a try and just tell them you have a 94 Defender.

Yep !

It was bang on ! Got all 4 U-joints today and the numbers were right even for a 1984 110.

Thanks again.

Have a nice weekend all !

Just FYI, the u-joints on Janey ('84 110, front and rear the same size) are not the same size as on a '94 D90 (Neapco 1-0005). They have the same cap diameter, but are longer from end to end.

Anyone know the cross reference number for 110 u-joints? Did you record the numbers you used Pat?

thanks
charles

Hi Charles,

I took my U-joints to napa with these numbers and found replacement with these. I can't remember witch is witch.

U-Joints

Precision 344 or 369, or Spicer 5-153 or 5-4

Hope it helps.

Pat

Thanks Pat

I had Advance look up a couple of these and I think the 369 cross referenced to a Neapco 1-0153 which they stock and fits my truck. I have only done the front so far but the rear appears to be the same size.

Thanks again,
charles
