What is this thing called like on the new Pumas and some older ones that had aircon I think? Does anybody know where to buy one after market or OE?

Not sure what it is called. I would call it the grill surround. They came on AC equipped defenders up to the 93 NAS 110 and are fiberglass.

I'll try to remember to check at work tomorrow to see if they are still available through Land Rover.

When I was looking for one to import, I think they were called a "nose cone". Turns out they are popular in the uk and hard to find used. A new one from rovers north or safari hp is about the best option.
You will also need to buy or fab the lower brackets for proper attachment.

Wow! $400! Thanks for finding the part # and who sells it, though.

SafariHP had them for $219 late July. Dont take RN prices...they are good for the hard to find stuff and occasionally are less expensive, but you can have one shipped from UK for less than $200 -$350 shipped as well.

I've got a used one that is in decent shape, and no longer need. Pm me if you have any interest...it'll be cheaper than the above .

there are a couple different versions/part numbers of these. They were first used in the mid 80's. and are used up to the Puma's.

I have one handing on the wall but if I were shopping for one I'd go with this
