Front end noise

Just drove the D for the first time in 2 months (collarbone break) and there is a sound like an Aluminum tent stake is dragging on the ground coming from the front end. The noise is only noticable when the truck is moving. I can't see anything. Just thought I'd ask around before having it looked at. Thanks in advance

Mine has been doing this intermittently for at least 3 years.

Ive never dragged an aluminum tent stake around, what else does it sound like?

When disc brake vehicles sit for a while, its not uncommon for them to form some surface rust on the brake rotors that can take a while to wear off. Depending on the weather, etc where you had the truck parked this could take 3 days or 3 months.

Slam on the brakes hard a couple times. Just rust on the rotors.

My offer to drive my D90 still stands.

could be what Ron suggested, or, what I just went through...one of my Ujoints was going and it made a lighter metalic sound like that and I could have sworn it was not a u joint but something else...even a fan belt...anyway, got underneath and grabbed the front driveshat and found some looseness when I shook it...fixed the ujoints and noise gone.

Very pronounced during backlash(foot off the gas in 1st) but can't replicate in neutral. Diff lock off/on made no real difference. I'll give the U joints a shake or a kick and see what happens.
