Front bulkhead crossbolt

Today I was mounting up my sliders and on the front they bolt to the front bulkhead crossbolt thing (they use the bolt on the outside of that front part of the frame under the door) when I went to take the bolt out (I removed nut on part that faces toward the back) and tried to turn it with my breaker bar and it broke off inside the frame. I'm not sure if its threaded in there, but if it is or not it should of turned. I got it to turn a little bit then it broke off in there. Any ideas?

No big deal - its not threaded into the frame or bulkhead, just the nuts.

Take note of the positioning of the washers and hammer the bolt out using an equivalent sized bolt or rod. You can buy the right size big-ass-bolt at your local Fastenall, but you want something in the hole when the bolt is out because it sucks to get the bulhead and chassis realigned if they slip when the bolt is out.

If its too tight, use a 2x4 and a jack to raise the bulkhead slightly.

OK, that's what I thaught, I was just not sure. I guess I just find something to beat it out of there then. I thaught it just should slide out but its probally rusted up in it. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thanks for the help.

Will

normally they rust up a but generally a good wallop with a hammer moves em. ALways support the bulkhead before trying to remove the bolt though

Soak it good with PB Blaster while you source the new parts...it'll come out a little easier.

Well I got the old bolt out without any real problems (thanks to impact hammer) but now I can't find any grade 8 bolts that are that long. I'm going to see if I can find them at some bolt store tomorrow.
