That one is easy. It was a joke that people took seriously. It started out years ago as a couple people from the OVLR club pulling the leg of someone on the LRO mail list.

They tried to convince them that "breakfast" was what the Australians called for metal front grill on a Series truck. And that it was the correct "in" term for the front grill. They said that the Australians removed the front grille and used it as a cooking grill for breakfast. The silly thing is that many newish people on the list believed them forgetting that the zinc plating was toxic.

And of course since people want to be in the "in group" they started using the word instead of grille. Then someone not knowing what to call the radiator bulkhead started calling it the breakfast because and early radiator bulkhead looked like bacon and two eggs. Really stupid right?

The silly thing is that it caught on amongst the people who didn't know better or know how the story started. Americans think it is an Australian term and the Australians and British who had never heard the term before believe it to be an American name for the radiator bulkhead. When it was really a joke. Of course it didn't help that the people who started the joke put the term in the LR FAQ web site.

A joke that took on a life of its own mostly through people new to Land Rovers trying to use the correct terms and believing whatever is told them. I'm still shaking my head on that one for how gullible people are. And yes I was on the list when the joke was perpetuated.
