Floor boards and footwells

Sorry, reposting in correct area.

I need some help. I have my 90 in the shop but would really like a second opinion from someone who knows this stuff better than I do.

The bulkhead has rust in the footwells, around the center near gear shift, and upper vents. The shop is quoting me to repair and repaint. The price seems high but what would this typically cost for a shop to fabricate new footwells, paint and install? They quoted labor to dismantle and reinstall separately.

Jut wanting to make sure I am not getting ripped off. Thanks.

Do you have pics of the damage? Easier to assess.

I don't have pics on my ph and not near computer. Just assume complete floorboard and footwell replacement. They said replacing bulkhead would be easier but cost didn't come down as there would be less labor time involved.

They want $2300 for repair and repaint of the bulkhead. Another $750 for a used bulkhead of I went that route.

I don't recommend repairing. Footwells are simple, but the door posts and upper part rust from the inside out. Really no way to repair without major surgery.

If you plan to keep the truck, buy a replacement, galvanize it (that gets the cavities too), paint and reinstall.

Well the floor boards just screw in so you mean footwell I assume.

Has the shop done this before? I would be less concerned about the cost and more of the quality of work.

Yeah I saw them in process with a 110 doing same repairs. I just didn't know if the cost was on par or not. Because the $2300 didn't include labor of another $1200. Again this didn't include the bulkhead replacement of $750. So just making sure that I am not getting hammered. What is the standard cost of getting a bulkhead painted?

Am I reading this right ? $3500 for parts and labor to cut out rusted footwells, weld in replacement parts and re-paint in situ ? Or are they removing the bulkhead and making the repairs, repainting it off the truck, and re-installing ?

Go down to Orlando and Safari HP. You aren't that far away.

As far as I can get from them, yes repairing and repainting is roughly $3300.

From what they told me that didn't mean they were removing bulkhead and doing full paint, but it could be.

For $3300 you could get a new genuine NAS bulkhead and paint it... http://landroverparts.roversnorth.co...995-NAS&key=it

Wouldn't it be cheaper for me to just buy the bulkhead from them have a painter or body shop paint it and then just have it installed?

Rocky, it's Safari HP that has my truck now and gave me that quote.

Buy new bulkhead, get galvanized, refit. Never worry again.
