Fitting OME Steering Damper

Always the easy jobs....

So the OME steering damper for Disco 99 and on (going on my 2004) but it does not fit in the bracket to get bolted in -- that is, the bushing is too wide for the mount, by at least 1/8 inch. Unsure if I should try to just grind this down, or....?

Is it eye-eye? Did you twist it correctly?

Both ends have same eye. Both have same type of bracket.

By the way, I could pry the bracket at one end, but don't have leverage to do the other end without figuring some odd tool set up to use. But I already bent the bracket out a bit, and it still won't fit in there. The bushing has a metal sleeve in the center, this is what is too wide for the bracket on the truck.

Either beat the gap open in the bracket with a hammer, or grind down the bushing sleeve.

I would grind down the bushing sleeve before I would deform the bracket. Actually there is no way I would mod the frame to bolt on an accessory.

5mm difference in the width of the standard compared to the OME.

That's nothing. 2.5mm off each side of the bushing and you're good to go.
