I'm running 225lb rate 3.5 rears older RTE's on a 1" spacer and 300lb 4.5 " front .

Small diameter wire coils extend pretty easy .

You aren't using a cone system to allow the springs to dislocate. Both the upper and lower part of the spring is fixed to its seat so it spreads apart as the axle articulates.

So I know the old RTE springs were designed for this where they had coils of varying thickness so they would stretch. The RTE springs I have, the newer ones, would never stretch far enough. At least I can't imagine they would. Even now, with shorter Fox shocks I probably get 5 inches of dislocation on the cone. There is no way that RTE spring is going to stretch 5 inches with just the weight of a 33 inch tire and rim pulling on it. Unless there is something i'm missing... I hate the sound the cones make so I'd love another alternative.

Yes agreed on the newer coils , but there's more than just the weight of the tire involved . Your tire is out board of the coil so there is some force being put on the dropping coil from the opposite side tire. I run 37" tires on my 90 so there is a little more leverage involved .
