Filling auto transmission?

I been looking on here on information on re-filling the automatic transmission. I see lot of info on the manual transmission but little on the auto ZF. The drain plug is easy enough to find, but I can't for the life of me see where you would re-fill the tranny? I even googled the ZF tranny and some sites said you refill through the level check stem. This just seemed silly. While under the 90 I noticed I have a leaky steering pump. That one's next on the list...

Fill through dipstick. Get a narrow funnel. Measure what comes out and put that amount back in and check it. Reserve maybe 1/2 quart from what comes out to be sure you do not overfill.
