I'm still not sure I understand your description of what is going on. Tell you what. Stand in front of the truck and sight down the front wheels on each side. You will be able to tell right away if any wheel is pointing the wrong direction.
I'll hunt down the manual.
Diff appears to be working (opposite wheel spins in opposite direction when elevated)
Alignment looks right.
Hard part is, because I live in BFE, nobody here has even seen a Defender, much less worked on one. Nearest Rover shops are in Portland, which is a long ways.
