faulty multifunction unit, AMR 5919, '97 D-90

I did some searching (this site and the web) and found the multifunction unit on the '97 D-90 is no longer available. I'm wondering if anyone has had success trouble shooting one or can recommend a good shop that might be able to repair the one I have. This is the plastic box located behind the upper row of dash switches that controls the rear wiper, door chime, dome lights.

Thanks!
Severin

Rear wiper, dome light, key in ignition chime - those I'm certain, might be more but my A/C is down (for other reasons) and I'm not sure if there's a link there. I could bypass on some systems, but would rather attempt to fix the problem before tearing into my harness.

Thanks

Before you jump to the AMR5919 MF-ECU being bad, know that everything you mentioned is also effected by the "door open" plunger switch. If it's crappy or otherwise the wiring is messed up, that would cause all of the problems you menitoned. I'd recommend checking that first before digging into the ECU or paying big dough for another one, as it's fairly easy to check and trace, and if a replacement is needed, will also be a lot cheaper. (And prevent screaming when a new/rebuilt ECU doesn't fix the problem. )

I was able to find a spare AMR5919 MF-ECU several years ago (mentioned in another older thread), but also was able to fix my stock ECU by opening it and then checking and correcting some cold solder joints and corrosion in the box, in particular on the multipin connection. I've saved the spare for if/when my stock one dies.

Too bad I wasn't able to help you a few months ago. I just moved from the VA Beach area in July/August and could have shown you the possible fixes!

Good luck,
Murph
