I use the Channel locks or an 1 1/4 open end wrench.

I just did that, but I had to cut down the 1 1/4 in order to make it skinny enough to get in there.

yah, I would have to buy the 1 1/4" wrench so I'd just get a proper fan wrench if I'm going to all that trouble. channel locks might work if it isn't too stubborn but I usually leave those as a last resort type thing. Air chisel makes short work of them too when you're up against the wall.

I figure somebody local has already broken down and bought the proper tool. C'mon guys, fess...

I've got a 52mm impact grade 1/2" drive socket, but no fan clutch wrench. Sorry.
