Falon Nameplate Finish

Here's a question for anyone that has purchased a new Defender plate from Falon. These come with a coating of high gloss clear coat on them. What have you done to yours? Leave the finish on? Stripped and repainted? Also wondering how they look on the truck with the gloss finish.

I bought my off of ebay. As a "New Old Stock" part. My defender 90 didn't originally come with one , but i think they look great. Any suggestions on what i should stamp in it? I have a strong reason to believe the serial number on my truck is not correct. 200TDi/ LT77
