Exhaust "issue" at welded joint

So I was driving home from work today and all of a sudden the truck got really loud. Sounded like my exhaust fell right off. After I got home I checked the exhaust system and quickly found the problem.

The weld joint that is on the passenger side downpipe just before the catalytic converter is completely separated. It is right at the weld.

Any chance this can just be re-welded, or do I need a whole new set of downpipes (all the way to the Y)??

Thanks!

Greg

Bozman, talk to Charles as this just happened to him less than a month ago. He said the repair took him less than 2 hours total and just cleaned up the joint and welded it back together

Yup - thought it was a rather odd failure myself at the time. Not anymore
