Thumbs up Exact replacements for OEM speakers

FYI re spekaers . . . .

The Clarion SRR1516 speakers (HiFi Buys 80.00 pair) are the exact same frame and design as the LR OEM.

If you want to use the OEM covers (as I did) you can as well by simply bending the (4) snap points out just a bit on the speaker frame(s).

http://www.clarion.com/usa/product/i...roduct=SRR1615

I installed in my wagon in 15 min perfect fit, holes line up and they sound great. Once the covers are on you cant even tell. Except for the sound improvement that is.

Best part is their only 80 bucks a pair retail. I am certain they can be obtained cheaper on the web.

Now just the stealth Sub . . . . hmmm

Larry, thanks for the info. Will be getting two sets fo these soon. Here's what I did on the sub. Of course this is if you are still using the stock Clarion Radio RTC7788. I'm sure you know about the last two pins on the radio(Y and Z) connector which are for sub output. To get the right pin, I went to the wrecking yard and found a Sterling 825, no radio but all the connectors, snipped off two(total of ten pins) went home and removed the pins from connectors, reinstalled in D90 connectors with three feet of wire, hooked up to the JBL P300.1 amp(mounted under the passenger seat) and bam...instant sub. The JBL amp was the biggest I could fit in the space and have installed others with no problems ever. The amp is just small enough that you can tweak the settings with it out and driving and reinstall when you're done. Just be sure to leave some slack on the leads.

Yo Phil,

That was the point . . . the OEM were crap . . . I agree.

The 1516's just fit the existing mounts without cutting them. Just wanted stealth look.

Running JL Audio 5 channel amp to them/sub off Clarion 745 Head (removable motorized face). I choose the 745 as screen color can be custom set (RGB) to match the interior light color exact and it just looked cleaner than all the others.

Certanly not a pro here, just wanted to maintain orig look but improve the sound a bit. Of course I will probably give in and put the sub on the rear door unless I can get two 6's enclosed behind two of the jump seats with the amp behind another

If you have some advice re system please let me know.

Cheers!

Anyone have any suggestions for weatherproof speakers that fit the stock locations. With the humidity, leaks, and blowing rain, I would prefer something not very sensitive. Marine speakers? I recall seeing them in 6 inch size.
