Ex MoD 110 w/ no title

I found an Ex MoD 110 that's awesome and I wanna flip my 300Tdi and LT77 into it out of my 90 and then part out my 90. Only thing is it has no title but there is a VIN on the frame. Seller can give me a bill of sale.

Anyone got any suggestions?

What year is the 110? Bill of sale and no title is not much of an issue in some states....

Also, there really should be more than just a chassis stamped vin if it is in the us. If the vin tags have been removed I would proceed w cation.

it's an 86 so I'm thinking it should be fine. Where would the vin tag be? on my 90 it's on the left side of the engine if looking at the engine. Yeah found the VIN on the front left side of the frame if looking at the front. REALLY want this one. Previous owner just drove on a private farm from what I was told.

oh and it's NEVER been titled in the US.

Well first you should check with your state to see what is needed to get a title if you do not have one...in NJ you need a notorized bill of sale...

I am not really clear if the truck is in the us or not.....if not you should be able to import it fine as it is over 25 years....if it is in the us, i would wonder how it came in way back when...

I guess what I am saying is do your homework or you might get stuck with more than you thought.

gotcha, yeah I'm in the process of a full investigation but I wanted to post on here as I've gotten awesome advice from this forum.

Yes, the 110 is in the US. That's one of my red flags, there's no import documents.

Thanks for the advice Kevin!

does it happen to be a hardtop, and tan? if i am thinking of the same one, it was on the RN forums some time ago, and it was in your neck of the woods, and there was a huge deal with it and no one wanted to touch it. also if it comes down to you buying it, and switching the motor and tranny, please let me know i might be interested in your truck as a whole without the motor or tranny.

yep that's the one. Anyone got a link to the RN forum? I'll go search there too.

You got a good point there Charles. So far SC DMV has been good to me in ways I can't explain. Southern women love the honey.

It depends on the state but in Texas you can do either; use the bill of sale to title (assuming no liens) or use the 110 frame and attach to the D90 vin which is what I would do. Fewer issues if there are problems with the provenance of the importation. In Texas, you would also need that bill of sale for moving the frame over to the D90 as well.

And that's a pretty sweet rig (from CO I think?)

I wondered why it didn't sell and assumed importation issues when I saw it relisted by a dealer as "no title parts only".

For the VIN plate, if it's an ex-MOD it may be on the seat box underneath the mat.

The older trucks had the vin plate on the brake booster under the hood. Thge older series had them on the inside dash recess.

If it's proper ex-MoD and hasn't been molested, then the military VIN plate should be riveted onto the end of the seatbox (when you open the door you'll see it smack in the center)

Should have the VIN, military registration number, contract number and a description of what the vehicle is.

If it's there, fling me over the details, i've got quite a bit of 1986/7 military literature for rovers that I kept when I left service.

Sound like donor parts to convert your 90 to a 110

Here's the kicker, I've got a 69 Morris Minor van that I won in a raffle and the current owner is interested in a swap since he does British cars as much as he does rovers. I like the Morris, but I don't love it rover style. Seems like a no brained if he'll do the swap.

well you might have an issue if you decide to swap the motor into the 110 if there is something funky with the exmod's VIN. but if it was a straight up swap that wouldnt be so bad. again like i said, if you get the 110 and swap everything i would be interested in buying your 90 without the motor.

argh, someone beat me to it. Oh well, se la vie, was worried to crap about that VIN# anyways. Came up as a 2003 when I searched. Wouldn't want to be associated with an illegal import anyways.
