Ever replaced your front wiper control switch?

I got a new wiper control switch to replace the one that's been flaking out on me lately. I went to install it tonight and discovered that the two holes where the mounting screws thread in came to me unthreaded. The original wiper switch has threaded holes and some 1/4" head machine screws that thread into them.

Has anybody ever replaced one of these and did you have to cut new threads in it?

Maybe I just got a defective unit. Imagine that, a defective Lucas component!

Ive actually replaced mine about a year ago or so from roversnorth and thought the same thing. Figured out that it comes like that cause the screws create the threads that you see. So that its nice and tight fit. Just make sure that you start screwing nice and straight.

Thanks. I called George at RDS earlier today and he confirmed the same thing: the screw will thread itself in the soft metal.
