Enough tread to play?

Hey folks -
A local guy has this set of 285/75r/16s for sale for $50 bucks... not much tread left. The hope was that they are better than what I've got - mismatched road-going british 235/85/16s. Not so sure they are... any thoughts on if this is too little tread to tell much difference? Any idea how long it will last?

I've got BFG A/Ts on my Z71 chevy - and they are pretty much just ok. Really want KM2s for the 110 but cant afford em. Making a compromise. DOn't want to bother mounting these things even though they are next to free if they won't help on the trails.

What kind of trails? Hard pack dirt and rocks probably ok. Mud prob not

id give you my 285s but i guess the 285 km2s are on eternal backorder currently. wife would also probably be really pleased with me .

Can't lose for $50. Let me know when you get them on and we can do a shakedown run.

There are several used tire places down on Victory Drive that look like they have some sets of M/T's or A/T's if you pass on these

I'd look a little harder for another set. Do they have to be 33" or are you just looking for a set of tires for mild offloading? They has to be a place that sells used tires around where you live.
Factor in the cost of swapping the tires and you'll see that you are better off paying a little more for a better set.
I'd sell you my 265 ATs (include the spare which probably did not touch the road for $50) but the cost of shipping would kill the deal. (and I'd need to get them unmounted first! )
